It is considered to be the most famous of all African textiles, and one of the world’s most complicated weavings. This cloth is special because each pattern, design and color has a special meaning. In the past, royalty wore this cloth and today it is worn by people of all social status. To make a magnificent Kente cloth the artist hand weaves a yarn on a narrow horizontal loom.  The artist will make strips of cloth that are about 3-5 inches wide and about 5-6 feet long.  Customarily only men are allowed to weave the cloth. Glass-like Sculpture

Glass has been used by artists to make wonderful works of art. It is challenging to have it used at elementary grade levels for making sculptures. In our project we used a Window Cling Paint which dries and gives a glass-like effect as the paint dries translucent. The intention is to make abstract forms using aluminum sculpture wire 14 grade and filling them in with the Window cling paint.
